The car in question is a unique and “wild” prototype of the signature of the blue oval of the 80s. The Ghia Trio Concept was intended to be an urban for small and busy streets thanks to reduced dimensions: 2,410 millimeters long, 1,360 mm wide and 1,650 mm long.
Adding to its pedigree is the fact that it was built on a tubular-frame chassis clad in all-aluminum bodywork, as well as a floor composed of a sheet of fiberglass and Kevlar, the same materials found in the frames of the seating. It may not sound particularly impressive, but it’s important to remember that the Ghia Trio Concept it was intended to be an economical and compact vehicle of the 80sand not a supercar for billionaires of the modern age.
It is clear that this prototype was designed to be a vision of a specific future and as such was shown in the 1983 Geneva Motor Show. As for what that future entailed, we imagined that fuel economy was at the forefront of his priorities, as this tiny vehicle weighed just 337 kilograms and was apparently capable of delivering average fuel economy. 3.36l/100km without any electrical assistance.
