a limited edition with many racing genes

The latest generation of the Ford GT has been truly special. We already speak in the past tense because his production of 1,350 units is already sold out and ended with the eye-catching LM Heritage Edition. However, the firm of the oval does not want to put an end to this supercar and launches a new copy that breaks schemes. The 2023 Ford GT Mk IV it is a model only suitable for circuit that expresses all the genes of competition and takes inspiration from the past. It pays homage to the original 1967 GT Mk IV that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

For the past few years, Ford has been very focused on paying tribute to its past achievers with models that replicate their liveries. However, now they bring a very different model, which has a completely redesigned bodywork and it might even look like a prototype. In fact, the wheelbase is higher and is postulated as a true “long tail.” It receives a more aerodynamic design in which we see details such as partially covered headlights, NACA type air intakes, more prominent bumpers and even wheels with aerodynamic covers.

The sculpted wheel arches are new and the rear, in addition to having been extended, also has a more radical design. Part of the blame lies with him. huge fixed spoiler and the other part is from the prominent diffuser. It is clear that the Ford GT Mk IV has been made for the track and does not have to follow rules to pass homologations. No images have been shown of the interior, but it is to be expected that it will have bucket seats with harnesses inherited from the competition and also a simplified multimedia system with new functions.

Another highlight of this example is that it mounts an improved version of the V6 EcoBoost engine. The biturbo block increases its displacement (they do not say how much) and that also causes an increase in its power. It is expected that exceed 800 hp, a notable difference with respect to the 656 CV that it has as standard. They have also equipped it with a competition transmission, so its benefits will be above those achieved by the conventional GT. To this must be added a adaptive spool valve suspension (ASV) from Multimatic.

Only 67 units will be made of the Ford GT Mk IV in honor of the original model’s victory year. All of them will be handmade by Multimatic and the first deliveries will take place at the end of spring 2023. The starting price of this specimen is $1.7 million without taxation.
