210,000 euros is the price that has been obtained for a fully functional wooden Citroën 2CV that has just been sold at auction.
A wooden Citroën 2CV, considered a unique model, has been sold for 210,000 euros at auction in France, setting a new price record for this iconic vehicle.
More than 5,000 hours Over the course of five years, he has needed the 74-year-old French carpenter Michel Robillard to build a wooden copy of a vintage Citroën 2CV. For this, he has used wood from fruit trees: the main bodywork is apple and pear, the front and rear are made of walnut, and the base of the doors and the trunk are made of cherry.

Apart from the bodywork, the dashboard, steering wheel and other elements of the interior are also made of wood.. Although the convertible top and upholstery are made of fabric, the removable seats have even been fitted with wooden slats.
And best of all is that works like a conventional car. It is capable of reaching 80 km/h with its gasoline engine borrowed from another Citroën model. However, as a collector’s item and unregistered vehicle, it cannot be driven on public roads and can only be driven on private roads.

After the sale of his wooden 2CV, Robillard affirms that he is not willing to give up his hobby. He already has a new project on his hands: build a wooden DS21 Cabriolet coupe Chapron in just 27 months. He wants to have it finished in time to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the legendary Citroën DS, in 2025.
