AC Cobra GT Roadster, old glory returns

AC Cobra GT Roadster, old glory returns

The English brand AC Cars, creator of the original Cobra, has finally presented an updated version of one of the most emblematic roadsters in history.. Yes, this model was actually popularized by Shelby, but the original Cobra was created by AC Cars, and it featured an inline six. Of course, then Shelby put a V8 on it and created the monster that has become so famous to this day.

Returning to the new AC Cars, the new Cobra GT Roadster maintains a retro aesthetic but with all the modern technology. It includes front and rear LED lights, modern wing mirrors, twin exhaust tips integrated into a diffuser, and larger wheels.

The interesting thing is that AC Cars learned from the past and this time the Cobra is reborn with a V8, specifically a 5.0-liter V8 from Ford that models like the Mustang use.. This supercharged impeller develops 654 HP and 575 pound-feet of torque, getting to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic.

Thanks to this and its aluminum chassis with carbon fiber elements that leave the total weight of the vehicle at about 1,400 kg, the new Cobra GT Roadster can do 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 278 km/h.

Although there are still no photos of the interior, the brand promises an analogue instrumentation but with a supporting digital screen, and a cabin with much more space and amenities than the original modelsince it will now have electric windows, climate control and a multimedia system with GPS.

AC Cars will officially present the Cobra GT Roadster in April 2023 and will take the model on a European tour in the following months. The first deliveries are scheduled for 2024 and the price is expected to be approximately USD 342,000.Although it is not yet known if it will only be for the European market or if it will also reach the American continent.
