almost 20% of the workforce on the streets

the soap opera Ford Almussafes It has finished being resolved and we could say that the result is not too positive to say. The Valencian factory had long had its future in the air because in recent years they have seen the production of some models that were made there cease. The resizing of the template was more than clear and now it is confirmed that it translates into a ERE that will affect 1,144 employees. It is a very high figure that has been agreed upon by the company and the majority union.

Ford has agreed with UGT after a month of meetings that nearly 20% of employees go to the streets, because currently there were around 5,900 workers. Although they have been quite complicated negotiations “due to the amount of surplus personnel raised, as well as the existing age bags”, it seems that the agreement guarantees factory continuity. In the near future, it will continue with fewer workers and producing electrified vehicles in line with the brand’s strategy in Europe.

There are 1,144 employees who will have to leave Ford and everything indicates that all of them will do it voluntarily. How is that achieved? Precisely with the conditions negotiated by the union, which consists of a plan of early retirement for workers over 53 years of age and another of compensatory economic indemnities. Those born in 1969 and 1970 will receive 75% of the regulatory salary until they turn 57 and 80% thereafter. Those who are 55 and 56 years old will receive 80% of the regulatory salary up to 57 years of age and 85% from that age. Workers aged 57 or over will receive 85% of the monthly regulatory salary.

There are also compensatory economic indemnities for all those born from 1960 onwardsreaching up to 40,000 euros if they are made before June 30 and up to 20,000 euros before September 30. These are measures that each worker will have to study, but the truth is that it is hard to see how the factory loses personnel in this way. The Ford S-Max and Galaxy are also fired from the production lines, minivans are no longer produced in Valencia and temporarily only the Kuga will remain. Starting in 2025, they will be able to make electric vehicles with a platform, which could be accompanied by a new readjustment of the workforce as the assembly of these vehicles is easier.
