By now you probably know that Omoda stopped being a sub-brand of Chirey and is now an independent brand. Likewise, you probably already know that the brand announced the arrival as the pre-sale of its new member the O5 for this May 1; With this, this sedan joins the range with the Omoda C5 (before 5).
Well, having clarified this, this note is to tell you what we know and know about this new sedan, prior to its official launch in the middle of next May, as well as the GT variant that will also arrive in Mexico. All this thanks to the fact that the brand invited us to China to meet him, as well as all the news of the brand for Mexico in the coming months.
Omoda 05 2024: General aspects
We were able to take photos as a video of this new Omoda 05, but we couldn’t handle it, so we’ll tell you what we know about mechanics, equipment and prices with what is marketed.

Omoda 05 GT 2024: What we know
Apart from the images that we present to you of the Omoda 05 in its normal sedan version, the brand allowed us to see in detail, touch it, feel it and do an acceleration test on the new Omoda 05 GT 2024. anus. Let’s see what we know about this sports sedan, but let’s clarify, some things may change once it arrives in Mexico.
Exterior design :
- The front is very different, they change headlights, grill and fascia. We have a lot of black piano accompanied by details in orange at the ends of the lower part of the fascia.
- On the sides, the 17” wheels are newly designed in a piano finish, and the brake calipers are orange.
- At the rear, the taillights remain, but the fascia changes. It houses some discreet reflective ghosts in the middle part, in the lower part a diffuser in piano black with an insert of imitation carbon fiber, as well as false quadruple exhaust outlet in chrome.
- The GT emblems are only present on the grill and on the trunk.
Inside:
- Inside, we find faux leather upholstery in a combination of black and red on the seats, console and door panels, as well as red stitching.
- The design of the center console also changes, here what stands out is that it abandons the separate screens of infotainment as a dashboard. To incorporate a single display that integrates the two screens, each 10.25”.
- The steering wheel as a leather-wrapped gear knob also with red stitching. At the bottom of the steering wheel, a red insert.
- Piano black, imitation carbon fiber, chrome and aluminum inserts are present in the cabin.
Mechanics:
- Under the hood uses another engine, this is from 1.6 L 4-cylinder turbo with 197 Hp and 215 Lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Acceleration test:
Our coexistence with the Omoda 05 GT was brief, we did an acceleration test, at the same time that we tested the suspension passing some discreet bumps, going fast.
The acceleration offered by this sports sedan is sudden, and very joyful. The tasks of passing, joining the road or starting at the change of the traffic light will be very easy. The approximate acceleration data from 0-100 km/h is 8 seconds.
As for the performance of the suspension, it absorbs bumps well, the suspension feels soft, nothing stiff, focused on comfort.
Omoda 05 and 05 GT: Our point of view
Undoubtedly in sight this sedan in both versions looks very striking, the quality of manufacture and materials surprises us. The technology of comfort as security is very complete and we applaud that. The engine configuration is something to be expected, and it does well behind the wheel, at least in the GT we tested.
The price quite contained as competitive for 05 2024. Once we test it thoroughly we can tell you more about this car, which comes to compete in the tight segment of compact sedans where the Jetta, Sentra and Forte. She doesn’t have it easy.
