‘Pecco’ Bagnaia is MotoGP world champion. After a chaotic race full of crashes, the eighth position earned the Italian, since although fabio quartararo He finished ahead, he could only be fourth.
The race began with both contenders very close. So much so that there was touch. In one of the overtakes between the two, Quartararo and Bagnaia touched and one of the fins of the Ducati ended up in the air, which weighed down the rest of the Italian’s career.
After the touches, the Frenchman finished overtaking him and left in search of the leading group, made up of Álex Rins, Jorge Martín, Jack Miller and Marc Márquez. He went hunting there and arrived, by then without Honda’s in the group, since he fell to the ground. Of course, with Brad Binder surpassing him.
Although Quartararo was not winning, fear was established in the Italian box. Bagnaia progressively lost positions. First Joan Mir, Miguel Oliveira… and then, to everyone’s surprise, Ducati riders such as Marini and Bastianini overtook him. He was still far from the 14th position that could no longer give him the title, but the tension was palpable.
In the end, Quartararo could not fulfill aiming. He did not win (Rins did), he finished in fourth position. Bagnaia, after eternal suffering in Valencia, finished eighth, but achieved the most important: the MotoGP title.
Fernando Alonsotwo-time Formula 1 world champion, was also at the Ricardo Tormo in Valencia witnessing the last race of the season.
