Carlos Sainz finished fifth and happy with the performance of the Ferrari, even if the position was not the desired one. Of course, he had a major scare during qualifying: he was about to run over a person.
During the course of Q2, the driver from Madrid entered the pit lane to get to his garage and at the moment he turned the car to be picked up by his mechanics, he met a person on the road.
The man in question was not wearing the badge of any teamHe was dressed in street clothes. This surprised Sainz, who saw a person crossing in the middle of his path, something very unusual since very few people are authorized to walk through the pit lane area.
The scare was considerable, but Sainz managed to avoid it with a counter-steering wheel and a little help from this man, who moved away quite slowly at the last moment to avoid being run over.
So far, this person has not been identified, but luckily there was nothing to regret. Beyond the scare, Carlos Sainz was able to continue with the classification and finish in fifth final position, being the best of the Ferraris in ‘qualy’.
