everyone talks about Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso. Not only in Spain. The international media have also warned about the potential of AMR23. A car that could even be placed behind the Red Bull, ahead of Ferrari and Mercedes.
Pedro de la Rosa, in statements to the F1 podcast, has been more ambitious than ever. Recognize that in the team “aim high” and that they do not think that the rivals “can surpass them”.
“We have to aim high too. We can’t keep playing the card that all the teams are going to beat us. We are ambitious we want to feel that the work that everyone has done in the factory is relevant…”, explains the ambassador of the green team.
“In the last batch, the race simulation that Fernando did at night, which is basically when the race will be, It was incredible”says about the three days that Alonso marked himself with the AMR23.
But de la Rosa wanted to emphasize that in these tests you always know the performance of your car, but not how the rest is going: “It’s always the same in the tests, you go there and for three days you do long runs, short runs, you drive with five different compounds. And what do you know? You don’t know anything about the rivalsyou can only say where you are compared to last season.”
Degradation is another fundamental issue in the Aston Martin. It is next to Red Bull the car that punishes the wheels the least. Unlike, for example, Ferrari, which had many problems in this regard with both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.
“His degradation was minimal. He wasn’t the fastest, but he was possibly one of those who managed to have less degradation”, has sentenced the ambassador of the Silverstone team.
