Aston Martin has changed strategy. The signings of important technical engineers are over. At least for now. The reason is the budget limit of the next season. Has been Rom McCullough in charge of explaining this new strategy.
In statements collected by ‘SoyMotor’, McCullough has detailed the “learning” they’ve done on the team: “We’ve learned a lot about the regulation and the way the process works.”
“So we wanted to reserve a significant development budget, knowing that this year we will have to spend more to evolve the car”explains the engineer of the green team.
“I think that at the moment we have the right size as a company. It is true that there are some signings in process, but the process of recruiting new personnel it has slowed down a lot compared to what it was,” he details.
“You need a permanent adaptation. It is a dynamic process between technique, operations and the aspects that you want to develop and you have to balance the costs between all of them,” explains the Aston Martin, who has around 700 workers on the payroll.
Aston Martin’s goal is clear: stop team growthespecially in the number of workers, to have more budget and thus develop the car during the season.
That was his strategy last year. When Fernando Alonso he signed for the Silverstone team, they occupied the penultimate position in the constructors’ classification. At the end of the year they had risen to seventh place tied with Alfa Romeo on 55 points.
