Augusto Fernández, Moto2 world champion

Augusto Fernández is Moto2 world champion. The Spaniard has won the World Cup in the intermediate category in Valencia after the fall of his rival for the title, the Japanese Ai Ogura.

The Mallorcan took the exit quite calmly. He stayed in fifth position, away from the leading four, being aware that the Japanese only had to win. Things turned upside down for Augusto with the falls of Alonso Lopezwho was ahead of him, and Cameron Beaubier, who had just passed him.

Ogura was aware that only victory could give him the title. He was braking too late and pushing to the limit to hurry up his chances at the World Cup. But the risk was too much. Trying to prevent Arbolino from escaping in the first position, Ogura went to the ground in turn eight, after entering very far and barely touching the brake, he ended up on the asphalt.

In this way, Augusto Fernández has been proclaimed Moto2 world champion, since the Japanese’s 0 guaranteed him the title. The Majorcan wins his first World Cup after six years in the category and seven victories (four this year). Next year will be in MotoGPthe premier class, with KTM’s satellite team, the Tech3.
