BMW Motorrad M 1000 XR, high performance for road and track

Motorrad’s third M model joins the brand’s 100-year celebration and the sporting DNA is undoubtedly there, ready to go further on routes and road trips, but also to tackle any circuit or track. Motorrad continues to be very accurate in terms of customer tastes and needs, so the M 1000 XR, even as a prototype model, shows the hand of the M division both in the design and performance section.

BMW Motorrad M 1000 XR: Aerodynamic efficiency

How could it be otherwise with the M division, the design obeys the aerodynamic function, so practically any component that we find from the fairing to the tail, is intended to work with air; obviously the end result is an exceptional side benefit:

  • M winglets provide more stability
  • The set contributes to a better contact of the wheels with the ground
  • Downforce gives more support to the front wheel, reducing the tendency to wheelie
  • Optimized riding position for better motorcycle control.

Mechanically, the XR will use a four-cylinder engine; This is the block used by the mighty S1000 RR, which has been optimized to work closely with the aerodynamics. This way, the M 1000 XR will always deliver the best performance when doing kilometers or doing fast laps on a circuit:

  • 4-cylinder engine with ShiftCam
  • Power: 200 Hp
  • Weight with fuel: 223 kilos
  • Maximum speed: 280 km/h.

With the M package, the M XR can further reduce its weight and gain dynamic attributes, shaping it as a competent crossover with superbike attributes.

BMW Motorrad plans to unveil the official version of the M 1000 XR for the second half of 2023 and we are eager to meet her.
