The year 2024 will be one of the most important for Cupra. It is then that the arrival of the new Cupra Tavascan (the equivalent of the Volkswagen ID.5) and the Cupra Urban Rebel (the electric Ibiza, to understand each other). They will be models without equivalents in Seat, but seeing the success of the Cupra Formentor, which is already Seat SA’s best-selling model, be careful with them.
And in 2023? Well, it will be the turn of more mundane versions of the Cupra León and its family variant, the Cupra Leon Sportstourer. Two variants are added to the range, where there are already 245 and 300 hp gasoline mechanics, as well as a plug-in hybrid:
- 1.5 eTSI 150 hp: the access version, which we have already tested.
- 2.0 TSI of 190 CV: designed for those looking for the intermediate term.
While the first stands out for offering the ECO label thanks to microhybridization, the second does not offer it, it has to settle for the C. Both are associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DSG7).
The starting price of the less powerful version is €33,340. Winning those 40 CV of the 2.0 supposes an extra cost of less than 1,000 euros, since it costs €34,270. Unless the ECO label is essential, it may be interesting to take the leap. If you opt for the family body, more practical, you have to pay 1,340 euros more.
Its benefits are good, since it delivers those 190 CV of power (140 kW) between 4,200 and 6,000 rpm, with a maximum torque of 320Nm between 1,500 and 4,100 rpm. It is capable of accelerating 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds (the 150 CV needs 8.7) and reaches 227 km/h (214 km/h the least powerful). The approved consumption ranges between 6.7 and 7.1 l/100 km. The mild hybrid system of the 1.5 eTSi is noticeable here, since it ranges between 5.6 and 6.3 l/100 km
These engines are associated with a fairly complete trim level, below the VZ and VZ Cup, reserved for engines with more than 245 hp. As standard it includes 18-inch black and silver machined sports alloy wheels, a different diffuser, front and rear LED headlights or the 10-inch multimedia system with navigation and integration with smartphones(Full Link), among others. Orders are already open and the first units will begin to be delivered in January 2023.
