Rumors have surfaced in recent weeks about a very strong interest from Ferrari in Lewis Hamilton. Both parties have taken it upon themselves to turn them off. That supposed offer of 40 million pounds seems to have never existed and will not exist at the moment.
marc geneone of the Ferrari men, has ruled out his arrival: “I am not the one who decides the drivers but, knowing the ‘Scuderia’, now does not fit the philosophy and I see him finishing his career at Mercedes”.
He believes that Lewis’s situation is not good at Mercedes due to the appearance of George Russell: “He is not in an easy situation. Russell is a top driver. Lewis had a hard time at first accepting that another driver beat him with the same car, but little by little he has recovered and is now driving at a high level again.”
Speaking to ‘Sport’, he has also analyzed Ferrari’s path with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc: “The beginning of 2023 is being difficult…”.
“I still think that the car has a lot of potential, that we have more reliability and at the strategy level we are doing well. However, we have not been able to show our full potential and to be on the podium we have to balance everything well”, says the Spaniard.
He acknowledges that the SF23 is not easy to drive and that both Sainz and Leclerc are in trouble: “It’s a hard car to drive and this has caused some mistakes by the drivers, but we have brought important improvements to Barcelona in which we are very confident and we hope it will be a turning point”.
With these improvements, Ferrari plays a lot. An all or nothing in the Spanish Grand Prix. If they don’t take a step towards the top, goodbye to being able to fight for victories in the remainder of the Formula 1 calendar.
