Many were struck by how Stellantis (still PSA back then) decided to launch a premium brand out of thin air. Well, on the ashes of an immortal name, the Citroën DS, an amazing car for its time. They started with rebrands and in 2018 the DS 7 Crossback arrived, a large SUV that was saddled with the responsibility of succeeding or succeeding. And he didn’t do anything wrong.
In 2023 it was updated. He lost his last name Crossback and of course, we had to do a thorough test. Like the previous one, it takes a note that is more than remarkable in comfort and good interior finishes. And it launches openly towards hybrid engines, which account for three of the four engines in the range. And in this we go and test the access diesel:
It seemed to us that it makes sense to keep that 130 CV diesel mechanics and automatic transmission. Granted, it is the least powerful in its category, where other premium brands offer various options with this fuel, sometimes very powerful. But that allows one to access this model from a base price almost 10,000 euros cheaper than its diesel-powered rivals.
Ideal for those who make many trips at a quiet pace and want to enjoy a very careful environment, the drawbacks that we have to do with the fact that it does not have, like most of its alternatives, light hybridization or the ECO label… or that the response of the engine does not feel as premium as its finishes. And (this is already more of a motor fan), that the brand seeks to be different in the finishes, but also in engineering issues like the original DS.
