Fernando Alonso was already ‘working’ for Aston Martin while at Alpine: Lance Stroll, his ally

It went unnoticed… but it was the beginning of everything. Just one month after signing a multi-year contract with Aston Martinand still under the yoke of Alpine, Fernando Alonso ‘The Mission’ has already started.

The two-time world champion Formula 1 I knew that several months ago at Silverstone they had been working exclusively on the AM23, the car for this upcoming season, under the direction of Dan Fallows, formerly of Red Bull, and Eric Blandin, formerly of Mercedes.

That is why, at the end of the Netherlands Grand Prixthe Asturian went into ‘spy mode’ to closely observe the Red Bull RB18B of ‘Checo’ Perez.

Without a doubt, the car of those of energy drinks has been the most powerful of 2022 and Dan Fallows, former pupil of Adrian Neweythe great ‘guru’ of Formula 1, knows that the correct path is the one that goes almost parallel to his ex-team.

Along with Alonso came Lance Stroll, who will be Fernando’s partner this year. It was clear that both had received instructions to observe different points of the car.

In fact, each focused on one part. On the one hand, the Asturian took care of the rear, the rear part of the car, including the spoiler, diffuser and air vents; on the other, the Canadian did not lose detail of the ‘cockpit’ and the front wing.

It should be remembered that the regulation allows you to see but not touch rival cars. In fact, two years ago, Verstappen received a sanction for manipulating Lewis Hamilton’s rear wing.
