Earthquake in Formula 1. ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ published this Tuesday that Ferrari wants to put Lewis Hamilton in Carlos Sainz’s seat from the 2024 season, that is, I would place him as a teammate charles leclerc. And they even provide figures for the possible contract.
According to the aforementioned media, those from Maranello are preparing an offer of 40 million pounds to convince the seven-time world champion. Which would mean that Sainz, with a contract until next year, would lose his seat.
But there is more. The media ‘The Best F1’ quotes a few words from Piero Ferrari in which he says that Sainz “has not yet shown his full potential” and that “they are still waiting” for that version of him.
“Max Verstappen is unbelievably fast. He was already driving in Formula 1 when he did not even have a driving license in his possession. On the other hand, by Carlos Sainz… I don’t think we’ve seen its full potential yet.we are waiting for it,” he says.
He does praise Leclerc, who according to this information would be Hamilton’s partner in the red team: “Charles has the speed to keep up with Verstappen. But she has less experience. Leclerc can still grow, he will grow…”.
What options would Sainz have left?
If Carlos loses his seat at Ferrari, his future in F1 looks uncertain. Mercedes’ position would be free, although the favorite for the silver arrows (they have always said so) would be Lando Norris. The McLaren option would then open up for Sainz, who would return home.
No other big team would have free seats. At Red Bull Checo Pérez has a contract until 2024, the future of Aston Martin is closed with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll and that gap would remain in Mercedes.
