Ford Maverick could have a sports version

This week the RAM Rampage was presented, the first pick-up developed by the American brand in the South American region. Taking into account the appearance of the new rival, it is worth remembering that we have known for a long time that Ford has in mind to develop a sports variant. Now and after the launch of the Rampage, information about it resurfaced. What are we talking about?

Would Ford launch Maverick ST?

According to the North American site Ford Authority, the oval brand is already working on what would be a Maverick ST, a variant that would compete for the market with the Rampage R/T, the sporty version of the RAM pickup. Thus, Ford would add a pick-up to its ST family for the first time, which among its members includes models such as the Puma, Fiesta, Focus, Edge and Explorer.

In the absence of official information, you can expect the Maverick ST (or whatever it ends up being called) to be buoyed by the Focus ST’s 2.3L EcoBoost engine, model with which it shares a platform. As a result, it could put out more horsepower and torque than the Rampage R/T’s Hurricane 4 engine (271 Hp), reaching 280 Hp.

To complete the motor phase, it is worth mentioning that the engine would work with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive. In addition, the version would have a lower ground clearance, 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust outlets, and design innovations, in keeping with what would be its sporty-style proposal.

When would it be released? It’s hard to tell. About what there is a minimum certainty, is that the version would be released in the United StatesAlthough it is unknown whether it will expand to the markets where the Maverick is sold.
