A patent registration by Ford was known for an accessory that will be quite interesting for users of pick-ups. It is a sliding roll bar (also known as an anti-roll bar), which allows greater versatility in the cargo area.
Roll bars are not always anti-roll, but most of the time they fulfill a merely decorative function and with luck, they can become useful to minimally support the load. But what Ford has in mind is a slider bar to better secure bikes or items that would otherwise be in unfavorable positions.
These bars slide on rails throughout the bed and even have lights built into the bottom to make it easy to work in low-light conditions. In addition, they can also be a support point to pull a heavy object with a cable, such as a motorcycle.
That Ford has patented this system does not necessarily imply that it begins to use it. Companies often “reserve” good ideas by patenting them and then apply them when they consider it necessary. Judging by what can be seen, this idea has quite a lot of application in today’s market, and it wouldn’t be unusual to see it installed and running on an oval pickup in no time.
