There are last minute changes in Canada. The loophole on the first corner of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve had been modified to prevent drivers from jumping it and gaining an advantage. Race direction and those responsible for the circuit they agreed to put up a wall to force the cars to go around and lose time if they went off the track.
However, the modification was not to the taste of the pilots. After free practice on Friday some complaints came to the race director, but the barrage of criticism came after the classification.
The rain caused several pilots to suffer runway exits and had to use that loophole, realizing that dodging that wall was really hardsince in that area the cars reach more than 300 kilometers per hour.
This Sunday morning, the race management has listened to the request of the pilots and has ordered the removal of the barrier for security reasons. Now the pilots will be able to rejoin the track after turn 2 if they do a straight on the first turn, simplifying the maneuver.
Even so, the FIA has made it clear that even if that wall is no longer there, they will be very aware of the use that the pilots make of the loophole andthey will be inflexible if they get any advantage.
