Harman has unveiled its in-car infotainment solutions at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023.

Harman is known in the automotive world primarily for its sound systems, but is nonetheless also a major player in infotainment systems. To demonstrate this, the American company has just presented at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas a series of solutions focused on improving consumer experiences inside the car in order to improve safety and entertainment on board.

Harman, which belongs to Samsung, has presented its new Ready Display interface, which promises to deliver true black instead of gray, more vivid colors, and much greater clarity on the screens in order to improve the expectations of drivers, who are used to similar experiences on their television screens or mobile phones.

The display technology, called Neo QLED Auto, uses quantum dot film and mini-LED backlighting to provide a high definition screen that has almost the same quality as an OLED TV at home, but without the high cost. This will benefit those who want to watch movies or play games while charging their electric vehicle.

In addition, through its Ready Upgrade hardware it allows the addition of software and applications through Harman’s Ready on Demand, a ideal solution for subscriptions in which some brands are already thinking. All of this uses the Android automotive operating system and is linked to a set of tools that allows the design team of a car company to configure the entire interface through a series of drop-down menus.

The Ready Care solution advocates increasing safety behind the wheel. Thus, it has a set of hardware and software that observes visual, cognitive, and vital signs to tailor your intervention as needed. A simple infrared camera in the system monitors the driver’s heartbeat, while another ensures that his face is alert and his eyes focused on the road. This is a simple system to install, with potential not only for car companies on new models, but also, perhaps, at the request of insurance companies for new drivers.

Finally, the Ready Vision system incorporates elements such as augmented reality, intelligent navigation, communication between the vehicle and the infrastructure and a head-up display that uses a camera to automatically adjust to the driver’s eye level. All of this is designed to inform without distracting and to provide intelligent safety awareness when the driver has other things on his mind.
