Floor, engine cover and sidepod cooling grids: these were broadly speaking the new improvements introduced by Aston Martin in it Canadian Grand Prix.
And, the truth is that they worked: Fernando Alonsoin spite of the “false alarm” team he had to deal with, finished 9.5 seconds behind max verstappenwhile in the previous race, in Barcelona, the final difference was 24”.
In fact, using pure mathematics, if the Asturian had not been forced to raise he would have ended up 3.7 seconds from the Dutch, something that a few GPs ago seemed impossible.
Well, with performance data in hand, from Aston Martin believe that it is possible to be at the level of Red Bull in the next Austrian Grand Prix.
This is what the German magazine ‘Auto Motor und Sport’ says: “Apparently, the data from the wind tunnel and the simulations are so good that there are people within the team who already they trust that the ARM23 will be at the level of Red Bull when they optimize the Canada upgrade between Austria and Great Britain.”
In Montreal, Fernando Alonso has already warned that the next two appointments on the calendar are essential for the team: “We will only be able to optimize the package at Spielberg and Silverstone.”
Christian Hornerhead of Red Bull, is already aware of the progress that Aston Martin can give: “We have much less wind tunnel time than the restSo we have to make the most of the time we have and think carefully about next year.”
