Everybody usually checks the price of the ITV and compare between stations to save a few euros. However, a recent study tells us that rates continue to rise and also that there are a lot of difference between communities. This is not new, we have already been highlighting it in recent years and it seems that it has increased with the crisis. The fact is that, depending on the place where it is passed, the technical inspection of vehicles could cost more than double. Therefore, it is important to see the variation and evaluate if it pays to move.
To begin with, it must be said that the The general trend has been for prices to rise. of the ITVs. This increase is estimated at 3.6% on average for gasoline cars and 4.3% for diesel cars. It is true that there are some communities that have maintained rates and others that have lowered them slightly (such as Galicia), however, there are others that have abused them. It is the case of the Valencian Communitywhich has seen prices rise by more than 20% (21.2% in gasoline and 28.89% in diesel) to become the most expensive place.

This community is the one with the highest prices, because it costs on average 48.55 euros pass the ITV with a gasoline car and up to 63.22 euros in a diesel vehicle. Not far behind are other communities such as the Basque Country, Ceuta and Madrid; all of them significantly above the average. If we look at the table from the bottom, we see that Mallorca takes the prize for the cheapest. In the Balearic Islands, management depends on each Island Council and in the capital the rate is 17.01 euros for gasoline and 30.92 euros for diesel.
Other communities such as Extremadura, Murcia (those that belong to the public administration) and Andalusia are also cheap; where division is made by cylinder capacity. The conclusion in this study that has been carried out by FACUA is that they have detected differences of up to 185.4% in ITV rates for gasoline vehicles and 116.1% in the case of diesel vehicles. The prices shown above include VAT, but not the rate of Trafficwhich is 4.18 euros for each inspection.
