Stellantis has just unveiled the new Jeep Compass 2023, which had significant improvements in the mechanical field, equipment among other things. In this note I am going to reveal our driving impression, as what we could perceive in this first contact. 2023 Jeep Compass: Insight into the interior
Although we already knew the facelift of the exterior as well as the interior of this SUV in the 2022 model, The good workmanship of this Compass never ceases to amaze us (we live with the one made in Mexico). The plastics (not shiny at all) like other console inserts have a good finish, soft to the touch. The leather upholstery of the seats offer an acceptable quality, they are durable and smooth.
The configurable digital dashboard is easy to manipulate. The infotainment system screen is of a good size, with a good visualization display and the software is not complicated to use, very friendly. Highlight that from it, you can operate functions such as bi-zone weather as a reverse camera, for example.
As far as equipment is concerned, it has a number of USB inputs to charge your cell phone, so that practically everyone who travels has a terminal and if this is not enough, bring an induction charger.
It has infinite spaces to place things, in doors, central column, etc.. The truth is that this is a convenience that is greatly appreciated.
I can say without fear of being wrong that it has everything for you and your family to be really comfortable.
Jeep Compass 2023: Driving
The driving route we had with this 2023 Jeep Compass was in the Riviera Maya, from Cancun to Tulum, but it was not in a straight line. Our friends from Stellantis literally took us around the other side, including a bit of dirt, city roads, rural roads and highways. With this we were able to give ourselves an accurate opinion of the new Compass, traveling approximately 270 km.
In this first contact we had with this SUV, we drove the version with the 200 Hp 2.0 L turbo engine, the most equipped. The behavior of this block is outstanding, it offers aggressive, super linear acceleration. The common turbolag in many engines with this system is non-existent. In a few seconds, you can reach a good speed or recover it in overtaking situations.
Regarding soundproofing, Jeep has done a good job with this truck, only going above 120 km/h is that bearing noise is perceived a little. On the other hand, something that I personally loved is the refined sound generated by the turbo, as if it were a jet, which invites you to accelerate whenever you can.
On the subject of traction, this truck is permanently equipped with the 4×4 system, something that off-road lovers or those who live in snowy areas will appreciate.

Regarding the eight-speed automatic gearbox, it runs efficiently, the changes are very fast, smooth, they occur in the lower part of the tachometer when demanding little from the engine. At full throttle, gears are made around 5,000 rpm.
Regarding the behavior when walking, when thought of as a vehicle for adventure, the suspension configuration is very capable to face dirt terrain such as deformed that you can find on the asphalt. It is high, soft but with a level of rigidity that offers good poise in curves and in sharp turns. Perfectly filters all the imperfections of the road.
Management, for its part, has a balanced balance. It is docile at low speeds and accurate when traveling fast, over-assistance is not perceived at all.
To finish this section, it should be noted that it has three drive modes: automatic, snow, sand/mud. To apply them, it is easily operated with a control located on the center console and given the conditions of the roads we use, we always stayed on automatic.
Jeep Compass 2023: Our point of view
Although the Compass in the 2022 model, it had a successful update in terms of design. Something more was needed to make this “mid-life cycle” renewal relevant. Fortunately for its 2023 model, Stellantis now incorporated turbo mechanics in all its versions, which makes all the difference. Turning it into a very agile, fast and plenty of truck for any adventure you want to live, because it will take you anywhere and at the same time it will facilitate your transfers without any complications.
Something that I really applaud is that you might think that with the addition of this turbo engine, this SUV could have increased in price, well let me tell you no. The most equipped version of the Compass 2022 that is coming out, had almost the same price as the High Altitude 2023 version, below 800 thousand pesos.
Just to close, this truck comes to compete for size against a Mazda CX-5 or Hyundai Tucson, for example.
