The KC23, designed and developed entirely at the Centro Stile Ferrari under the leadership of Flavio Manzoni, is based on the 2020 488 GT3 Evo, an evolution of the 488, from which it inherits its design, chassis and engine. This One-Off unit has been commissioned exclusively by an anonymous Ferrari collector and the donor car, in this case, is truly a one-of-a-kind unit with track experience dating back to 2016 and upgraded around three years ago with the exclusive “2020 Evo” kit. In terms of exclusivity, we can say that this KC23 is a “AAA” and that in terms of competitiveness, it has no rival: the 488 GT3 vintage more than 530 victories and 119 won championships.
Due to the composition of the donor car itself and the sum of the personalization details, the KC23 is uniquely designed for its non-competitive track performance. A dual configuration will allow us to see the vehicle parked in one way, with its sporty and pure lines, while if we see it on the track, it will transform to the extreme revealing automatically opening air intakes and a rear wing that can be removed and cut. the air.
From the beginning of the order, Ferrari and collector decided to create a non-approved car that had an extreme and unique cut, an evolution to a car that will raise eyes in 2023 and in 2063, a look to the future but timeless of a reinterpretation of the Ferrari 488 GT3. The desired effect for the body was focused on achieving a unitary and monolithic structure. Some of the technical functions of the 488 GT3 were hidden, such as the side air intakes, to grant them an automation depending on the need of the layout. To be more precise, the intakes open when the V8 biturbo engine is turned on when driving is required.
Also as a key element we found the spoilerImpossible not to stare at him. It is designed to be disassembled and have more classic lines, but when it starts up… we have a racing car born to cut times on each pass through the curbs.
If we talk about the downforce and thermal, a neat job has been done to maintain the car’s performance despite the additions, since the original silhouette and the resulting one are totally different. Some panels with kinematics have been built ad hoc which is automatically activated when starting the KC23. We will have a panel located behind the front wheel that reveals a air flow diverter that increases the vertical load and also takes care of the proper aerodynamic balance. The rear panel ensures airflow to cool the intercooler, auxiliary components and engine intake.
In other design paths we will have some vertical opening doors that remind you of the Ferrari LaFerrari, simplified opening hood, redesigned headlights and rear light slats that seem to be taken from the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo. The car windows have a dome effect that eliminate the view of the pillars and blend with the body of the car. As for the color: Four-layer aluminum-based Mercury Gold, an iridescent paint that changes color depending on the incidence of the sun’s rays.
The interior is signed with the minimalism by flag and being very faithful to the 488 GT3 except for the door panels and passenger side trim. The Alcantara seats feature an elegantly cut, electro-welded logo to match the exterior of the vehicle. Rear visibility is guaranteed with a set of 360 cameras that suppress the mirrors, improving aerodynamics and general presence.
Finally, the KC23 equips two sets of specifically designed rims. 18 inches for the circuits and a second set of 21 inches and 22 inches for rides and social presentations.
