Mazda announced that it becomes a member of the Next Generation Automotive Fuel Biomass Innovation Research Association, which was established on July 1, 2022 by ENEOS Corporation, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Subaru Corporation, Daihatsu Motor Co. This Association promotes technological research on the use of biomass, as well as the efficient production of bioethanol fuel for automobiles to achieve a society where carbon neutrality is a reality.
The reason why Mazda decided to become a member of this Association was thanks to the investigation on the improvement of bioethanol fuel production technology and the use of CO2 generated during the production of this fuel.
This vision that the Research Association has been promoting as part of a range of diverse options to achieve carbon neutrality, coincides with the idea of the Japanese firm.
According to Hiroyuki Yamashita, a senior engineer responsible for technology research at Mazda, “Through the Research Association, we will work together with other companies to promote research and development of bioethanol production technology as fuel and other technologies. We will do our best to increase the potential of carbon-neutral fuels, a promising option to achieve a carbon-neutral society.”
Likewise, Koichi Nakata, Chairman of the Board of the Biomass Innovation Research Association for Next Generation Auto Fuels, stated that “Carbon-neutral fuels are a leading energy option for achieving a carbon-neutral society. We are delighted that Mazda, which has accumulated considerable knowledge and technology regarding carbon neutral fuels, has become our new partner.
