tremendous scare with Laia Sanz in the fifth stage of the Dakar. He suffered a wild accident and fortunately he is in perfect condition together with his co-pilot, Maurizio Gerini. Their team car Astara Team has suffered a lot of damage and it is not ruled out that they even have to abandon.
It all happened at kilometer 28. The car flipped several times. and ended up overturned. Sanz and Gerini were able to abandon it after several seconds of anguish.
Car repair will not be easy. The team’s support truck came to the scene to assess the damage and decide if they will be able to repair it.
Laia has never given up on the Dakar. Add 12 consecutive finishing and in this one, number 13, everything will depend on whether your car can be repaired.
The Spaniard was having a brilliant Dakar, always close to the top-10 in the stages. Now, if her car allows it, she will be able to continue competing and thus forget the tremendous scare of this fifth day.
