What’s going on?



As we all know Lexus is the luxury brand of Toyota, a brand that has a great position in the US market, Lexus began operations in 2022 in Mexico and little by little it has been inaugurating distributors and has also revealed its range to us.


Today we got to know the IS model, a veteran sedan that has the characteristic of offering traction on the rear axle.


Lexus IS 2023: Design



The Lexus lines have always been atypical and you have to get used to them, the Model IS is the oldest that the brand offers us in Mexico, The IS was unveiled in 2013 and over the course of nearly 10 years has received a few cosmetic redesigns and facelifts. The last one received in 2020 being the one that already presents the current image of the brand and boasts the unique -and immense- front grill called “Spindle Grill” that all Lexus now carry.

We found luxurious interiors with good finishes – at the price level – there is a state-of-the-art infotainment system, but we had a puzzling find, the vehicle has a CD player in the center console?

Lexus IS 2023: Engine



As I have read, the Lexus are characterized more by their smooth running than by their sporty spiritIn the IS we find a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that mats to an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters at the wheel when sport mode is selected and for slightly quicker starting from zero. The suspension scheme is double wishbone at the front and Multi-arm at the rear.

2023 Lexus IS:Handling


The behavior on the track was adequate, although it is prudent to comment that its set-up and behavior is more focused on a smooth walk and without many shockson the track it behaved well and they highlighted positive details such as the double wishbone suspension, which few vehicles offer anymore.


The accelerations are very good and the automatic gearbox work is smooth and although it offers a “Sport” driving mode, the behavior will always be focused on comfort. Driving the IS 300 on a good highway should be a pleasant experience and on a day-to-day basis a comfortable and quiet vehicle, as those who know Lexus well say.
