The ‘sprint’ format was introduced in the Formula 1 last season and although in 2022 it continued with some changes, there are still people in the paddock who do not like this modality. The two-time world champion Max Verstappenhas charged against the ‘sprint’ and proposes alternatives.
“Honestly, I’m not a big fan of them. I feel like we don’t compete. Yes, there are points at stake, but you know you can’t risk it because it’s the main race where everything is at stake”, she commented at the press conference prior to the Brazilian GP.
“There are no pit stops so you choose the tire that will last you the whole race; you don’t see many overtakingexcept when a car goes very out of position… I don’t find them fun, you don’t take risks, it’s just finish them safely“, Explain.

What produces the most controversy in the current ‘sprint’ format is that conditions the starting grid for Sunday’s race. Therefore, one option would be for both the ‘sprint’ and the race to be two independent tests. This is something that the Dutch like more.
