MG RX5 2024 is the spearhead in the launch strategy that the firm has planned for 2023. And it is that at the beginning of the second quarter of the year, it is noticeable that MG Motor does not want – nor does it think – to lose the sales rhythm that it has achieved since its arrival in Mexico. And how could that be possible? Of course, nothing more and nothing less than offering the market just what it demands: SUVs.
So the arrival of MG RX5 2024 is quite successful, and not only because of the boring marketing or statistical issues, but also because it looks new, fresh and purposeful. Besides, In this first contact, we have begun to discover some qualities that will surely be well received by the final consumer.which you can choose between the two versions: Excite & Elegance.
MG RX5 2024: General equipment
Green trims? Yes. It is the first thing that stands out in the visual section in both sectors of the body. The frontal fascia is broad, with well-defined lines, as is the chest., obviously embellished by the logo; but what really takes center stage are the following elements:

- Green trim extends to both main headlights
- Headlights and DRL in LED

MG RX5 2024: Cockpit
There is a notable change in the quality of materials and assembly, come on, more quality is perceived. Work is noted on the textures of components such as the steering wheel, dashboard, console or handles, in fact, the tonic is maintained in the back, where it usually falls into “abandonment”. The seats have a somewhat high position for both front benches, and despite having 6-way electrical adjustment, it could be a detail to correct in some future facelift, perhaps.
The technological and connectivity theme is purposeful and interesting in the visual theme. The Software is basically the same as we know in other MG models and it would be a matter of adapting to the menus contained in the 14.1” main screen with MG Connect, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, placed vertically, as well as the sensitivity adjustment, since in the first instance, the controls of basic functions such as the climate control are somewhat complex to manipulate , especially while walking.

MG RX5 2024: First driving impressions
Knowing the presence of a 1.5 turbo TGI four-cylinder engine, the expectation was high and, the truth is that, on a route of approximately 250 kilometers traveled from CDMX to the hot Costa Esmeralda, in the state of Veracruz, RX5 pleasantly surprised and showing honesty in the delivery of its 168 Hp and 203 Lb-ft of torque, what do I mean?
- Turbo lag disappears in the 2,000 rpm range
- The 7-speed DCT transmission feels well stepped and flexible, this allows good rhythms and engine recovery
- Despite its low displacement, it does not suffer more than “normal” even with four adults
- It is perceived safe and well planted during passes, straight lines and passing through curves
- It is tight, with a good feeling behind the wheel, although with a slight delay in the direction
- The front and rear multilink McPherson suspension provides good poise, comfortable ride, filtering, and manages not to fall into excessive body roll.
