The series, released in January 2021, narrates the transition to adult life of six fairies who are students of Alfea, a school in the Otherworld. There they must learn to master their powers, as well as face love affairs, rivalries and monsters that threaten to destroy them. And Brian Young, known for his work on ‘The Vampire Chronicles’, was chosen to create this live-action version of the Italian cartoon series ‘Winx Club’. In September 2022, the second season arrived on the platform with a new course under the strict leadership of Rosalind, the former director of Alfea. With the Quemados retired, Dowling “disappeared” and Silva behind bars for treason, new spells, new romances and new faces were added to the Alfea of the previous year. As fairies begin to vanish into the night without a trace, Bloom and her companions discover a dangerous threat lurking in the shadows…and they must stop before it wreaks havoc throughout the Otherworld.
For the public that has shown its discontent on networks, the decision is especially outrageous because the series has had good audience data. ‘Destiny: The Winx Saga’ entered the Top 10 at its premiere and remained five weeks in the ranking. However, that seems not to have been enough for the company that this year suffered a great crisis and that in addition to having the objective of recovering subscribers is also trying to lower costs.
