A few weeks ago, Opel revived the acronym GSe to create a range of cars with a sporty character. GSE, with a capital E, stood for “Einspritzung” in the 90s: which in English means “Grand Sport Injection”. The acronym was carried by cars such as the classic Commodore GS/E or Monza GSE. Now, the E becomes lowercase and takes on a new meaning: “Electric”.
The first GSe model to appear was the Astra GSeboth with hatch and station wagon bodywork. And now the SUV Grandland GSe is addedwhich for performance is presented as even sportier.
“The new Opel Grandland GSe is exceptionally dynamic, capable and stylish. We are sure that it will appeal to customers who are not only looking for an electrified SUV, but also sporty driving.”says Opel CEO Florian Huettl.
The Grandland GSe is a plug-in hybrid with 300 Hp of power, becoming the top of the range. This system combines a 1.6-liter turbo combustion engine with two electric motors, one on each axle, so the drive is on all four wheels.
The brand indicates that the sports SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 235 km/h. In 100% electric mode, the maximum is limited to 135 km/h.
Aesthetically it is distinguished by the 19-inch wheels inspired by the blanket gsea more pronounced rear diffuser and other exclusive aerodynamic elements, a two-tone exterior with a black hood (as an option) and GSe logos.
Doors inside it has exclusive GSe seats with AGR certification, which are also upholstered in leather and Alcantara. And a little more.
More relevant are the changes in the chassis made by the brand, to achieve a sportier set-up. The steering is stiffer and offers a more direct feel, the suspensions are firmer to improve cornering, and it includes shock absorbers and coil springs with KONI FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) technology, which adapt according to the selected driving mode.
