The electric bicycle market continues to grow in Europe, reaching a total of 5.5 million units by 2022 and a 25% share of the total bicycle market. Understanding this growth, which exceeded 8% last year, is that Peugeot Cycles, the French manufacturer’s bicycle division, announces the arrival of a new range of connected electric assisted bicycles, designed for both personal and business use.

Last October, Peugeot announced a range of 24 new electric models, from cars, vans and including bicycles, and the first new two-wheeled models, divided into three product categories, begin to reach the markets.
The categories will be the special Digital e-Bike for personal use in the city, the Digital e-Longtail (long tail) with an extended rear end to accommodate children or cargo, and the e-Front Load Digital, a cargo bike with an extended front wheelbase to haul a heavy bed of cargo.

The last two point to both family use (transportation of children) or business use (cargo transport). The novelty is that this new range of electric bicycles will have the best connected technologies. Through a new phone app, users will be offered features such as adaptive power assistance, an anti-theft system, alarm, bike geolocation, real-time navigation, destination weather forecasts, route statistics and more.

These three new worlds of connected electric bikes will be designed and manufactured by the startup Beweel and will be available through the main distributor networks of Cycleurope Industries.
