From now on, Traffic will find it easier to catch those who step on a continuous line or those who skip and even do not stop completely and correctly at a stop. The new surveillance cameras will take up to 200 euros if you commit any of these offenses!

The General Directorate of Traffic is constantly developing new systems that can improve our road safety and, now with innumerable speed cameras set up throughout the state highway network and with up to 13 Pegasus watching us from the air, it is time to go one step further and begin to control with more impetus maneuvers that until now were a little more out of their hands. That is why various cameras are currently being tested so that tomorrow they can record the number plates of the most imprudent people who step on or exceed the continuous line and skip or do not make a stop correctly at strategic points.

What do these blue and orange lines mean in the SER zones?

Not doing a Stop correctly can remove up to 4 points from the license

The method is basically the same in both cases: a camera located next to the stop or next to a joining lane, for example, will record each of the maneuvers carried out in order to penalize drivers who do not carry out the operation correctly and safely, with the corresponding deduction of four points in relation to the stops. Instantly, the mechanism will be in charge of sending the registration and the test to the Automated Complaints Treatment Center of León for initiate the sanction process.

As we said, it is not yet a system that is operational, but rather it is being tested to optimize its work to the maximum, but it does enter into the DGT’s plans for it to take center stage, at least in the crossroads and most dangerous points of the busiest roads. With this they hope to significantly reduce the numerous side impacts that are produced by this type of recklessness at the wheel and that can lead to fatal crashes in some cases.
