Through a statement, the Japanese company stated that Shoichiro, son of Toyota Motors founder Kiichiro Toyoda and father of current CEO Akio ToyodaHe died at the age of 97 due to heart failure.

Shoichiro was born on February 27, 1925 and in September 1947 and He graduated from Nagoya University with an engineering degree and joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) six years later.
Later, he received his doctorate in engineering and wrote his thesis on fuel injection, which is why automotive technology and quality control have been some of his main areas of interest throughout his career.
In 1961 he was named general manager, and after rising to senior general manager in 1967 and executive vice president in 1972, he was named Toyota’s president of sales in 1981.

A year later, after the merger of the sales and production organizations, he assumed the presidency of TMC, to occupy the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors a decade later, a position he held until 1999.
After 57 years on the board, Dr. Toyoda was named honorary chairman.
Toyota said a funeral reserved for the family will be held, followed by plans for a farewell party for honorary chairman Shoichiro Toyoda.
