In recent months I have been able to drive two units of the Skoda Karoq 2022. Both stand out for their good interior spaciousness and practical details, as well as good standard equipment without having to resort to the list of options (which is very extensive to be and it is well organized). Dynamically both were fine, but without a doubt I ended up recommending the second one more than the first one.
The first was the Karoq 2.0 TSI 190 CV 4×4. Yes, it runs, but it also consumes its own and I don’t see that it’s the mechanics looking for someone who walks through the door of a Skoda dealer. However, the Skoda Karoq 1.5 TSI of 150 CV is the option to choose from the range. For its refinement, balance between performance and consumption… and above all a price in line with what it offers. Granted, it has few aesthetic changes and it is difficult to distinguish it from the previous model, but with the Sportline finish it is a very successful car:
Power is ideal for such a car, as the 1.0 TSI can fall short at times. If you search the market, with a good trunk for four, we only found two cheaper options, the SsangYong Korando and the Dacia Duster. The finishes of the Skoda are better. In a similar price range is the Kia Xceed with 160 PS, but it’s not quite as practical.
The downside is that, unlike other rival compact SUVs (somewhat more expensive), the Skoda Karoq does not offer electrified versions in its range, which would further reduce urban consumption and have an ECO label. A pity, because the Skoda Octavia does have them. That decision undeniably helps keep prices at bay…something many buyers will no doubt appreciate.
