Suzuki Fronx 2023, an SUV based on the Baleno that could arrive in Mexico

After the announcement of the eVX, suzukibeing one of the strongest brands in India, did not rest on its laurels and introduced the new fronx within the framework of Auto Expo 2023 (the Indian Show), which will surely reach other markets such as “Baleno Cross” because that’s exactly what it is baleno raised.

Name Fronx has not been discussed by the brand, but the first thing he remembers is the little Suzuki Fronte Coupé and surely it is because of the fall on the roof. Not that this is a “coupe-like” crossover but the lines of the Baleno in crossover format, being taller, work like one.

Of Balenoaesthetically there is little left since suzuki put a lot of hand It is a model that will be located between the Baleno and the S-Cross and therefore, it is not surprising that its design looks just like that. As a good crossover, there is no shortage of the cut in the D post, the plastic fenders, the two-tone wheels and the bars on the roof.

dimensions

fronx Baleno
Long 3,995mm 3,990mm
Broad 1,765mm 1,745mm
High 1,550mm 1,500mm
Between Axles 2,520mm 2,520mm
ground clearance 200mm (approx) 150mm
Trunk 308L 314L

The only thing that remains is the wheelbase. The height changes, although Suzuki has not given the exact figures. Considering the bars on the roof, that measure should grow between 40-50 mm, which is not bad.

Inside

Inside, there’s no change from the new Baleno, save for a minor redesign to the door handles and a couple of trims surrounding the center air vents and nothing else.

The equipment, as seen, is very similar to the Baleno. This means that we will find a 4.2″ color supervision cluster, factory multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger, 360-degree camera, Full LED lighting, two to six airbags, ESP, assistant hill start and a Head-Up Display system. At least in India there are five variants (Sigma, Delta, Delta Plus, Zeta and Alpha)

The engines available, at least in India, are two:

  • 1.2 Dual Jet D-VVT 89 Hp and 83 lb-ft

    • Box option 5MT or 5AT

  • 1.0 Turbo Boosterjet MHEV (12V) 99 Hp and 109 lb-ft

    • regenerative braking
    • Electric torque assist under acceleration (actually takes stress off the engine)
    • 5MT or 6AT box option

Suzuki plans to release it during April in India. Then we will see which markets it will reach later and if the brand releases it for sale in Mexico.
