Tesla announces the manufacture of the first serial unit of the Cybertruck

What’s going on?

In 2019 Elon Musk presented a concept vehicle that NOBODY expected, there was much speculation but it was not known for sure what it was about. On November 21, 2019, the world was speechless with Musk’s presentation, which took place at the Tesla Design Studio in Los Angeles, California, and an interesting and geeky fact is that the date and geographical location coincide with the fictitious date of the film. Blade Runner shot in 1982.

Knowing how Mr. Musk spends them, that date is no coincidence and the Cybertruk presented shows many coincidences with the flying Spinner from Blade Runner.

Let’s go back to the Cybertruck

After a brief review and reminder of the film, let’s remember that presentation where Musk -with those hypnotic skills similar to those of Steve Jobs- explained to the entire world that his Cybertruck was virtually armored and indestructible, and just at that moment Franz von Holzhausen – Head of Tesla Design- throws a metal sphere at the two side windows and what do you think? They broke! And it all ended with nervous laughter and of course it was acted to “break” the internet with the fact Bravo Elon!

The Tesla Cybertruck experienced notable delays in its production. When the vehicle was presented at the end of 2019, Elon Musk estimated that the vehicle would go into production at the end of 2021, which did not happen, Tesla kept promising and assuring that it would go into production in 2022, which did not happen either.

Tesla’s argument was that it postponed several times as they continued to make improvements and adjustments to the electric pickup.

the day came

On the third weekend of July 2023, the first production Cybertruck left the Gigafactory and without any fanfare, the brand created a tweet that briefly said: “First Cybertruck built in Giga Texas” and included this image.

Elon Musk and Franz von Holzhausen have been emphatic that the Cybertruck will be worth the wait

Specifications?

There is also not much clarity regarding the autonomy, load capacity or 4X4 capabilities of Cybertruck, it is rumored that:

  • Load capacity: more than 1,500 kilos
  • Towing capacity: between 3.4 to 6.3 tons (depending on version)
  • Entry angle: 35º
  • Departure angle: 28º
  • Height off the floor: 16 inches
  • 0 to 100 km/h: 2.9 seconds

How much will a Cybertruck cost?

Elon Musk plays hard ball again and says a lot without clarifying anything, but he gives us some clues to give us an idea of how much the Tesla Pick Up will cost, stating the following:

“The Ford F-150 Lightning is “somewhat expensive”, and that was said a few hours after Ford reduced the prices in the US of its electric pickup”

Ford F-150 Lightning 100% electric

As additional information, when Cybertruck was presented in 2019, it was mentioned that there would be versions of One, Two and Three engines, whose prices would range between 40, 50 and 60 thousand dollars, but on this occasion neither prices nor versions have been discussed.

If you are interested in a Cybertruck I suggest that you arm yourself with patience, since Tesla has over 1.7 million Cybertruck pre-orderswhich means waiting more than two or three more years.

Would you wait three years for a new car?
