The Azerbaijan Grand Prix turned into a nightmare for the Alpine team again. Pierre Gasley was fourteenth and Esteban Ocon, fifteenth. It was the first time he saw otmar szfanuaer really disappointed with the rhythm of his team, far from even points.
The start of the French team has been more than disastrous. They have only added eight points between the two drivers in four races. Fernando Alonsowho left the team last season, already has 60 points and three podium finishes behind the wheel of Aston Martin.
The Alpine boss now says the aim has to be to get Australia’s rhythm back. In that race, by the way, his two drivers ended up colliding with each other and hitting the wall.
“We showed our race pace in Australia and we have a better chance to validate our upgrade package in Miami,” said Szfanuaer.
And he says: “We must continue to work hard as a team, maintain our understanding of how to maximize our package and aim for a much improved overall team performance next weekend in the United States.”
Alpine’s situation is completely disastrous. They stuck out their chests in winter after losing Alonso and Oscar Piastri, signing Gasly, but his reality is very harsh. A team that is not even in the middle zone of the grid.
