Aston Martin has been the great surprise of the year in Formula 1. It is a perception shared by the vast majority of fans, and also by the other teams.
In just a few months, the team has spent from being the penultimate ranked in the constructors’ championship to having the second car faster and to be on the podium six times in the first eight races of the season.
It has been a totally unexpected evolution and practically unprecedented in recent history of Formula 1, and even more so in a year without major regulatory changes.
For this reason, most analysts have been studying for some time what are the causes of this radical change in the results of the Silverstone team.
Almost all of them focused on the signing of the two men who have designed the AMR23: Eric Blandin, from Mercedes, and Dan Fallows, formerly of Red Bull. However, Fallows himself downplays his arrival and points to a mental aspect.
“I think that our greatest strength this year is that we have much better results than we expected“said the technical director of Aston Martin in statements to ‘Motorsport.com’.
Fallows assures that the good results have been a real injection of morale in the team: “It has been very nice to start the season with such a competitive carwith a car with which we can fight for second place.”
