Internet Turkey Journalists ‘Federation (IGF), Bursa and attacks on journalists strongly condemned last night in Aksaray, has announced that it is in danger of journalists’ safety.
In his statement on behalf of the board of directors, President Demir stated that the attacks on journalists have been increasing in recent days and that the attackers should be given heavy penalties.
The following statements were included in the statement of the İGF Board of Directors;
“Süleyman Satmış, who violated the curfew in Bursa yesterday, attacked the cameraman Mehmet İnan who wanted to view him. After the attack, Mehmet İnan’s nose was broken and he was taken to the hospital. A citizen named Volkan Y., who also violated the curfew in Aksaray, said. It seems that criminal sanctions are insufficient. Press members undertake a public duty in order to inform the society at the expense of their lives. The right of press members to be abused, to be kept within the scope of dangerous business line and to be enacted is inevitably secured by our colleagues working in internet media. We want our security forces to help our journalists, especially those who report on the courthouse and public order, to do their jobs, and to ensure the safety of journalists. . ”
