Few times in history is there the opportunity to acquire a complete garage with an exquisite selection of benchmarks of sportsmanship in the automotive industry. Okay, opportunity if you have something like USD 50 million in your account, which is what is estimated to be worth this important collection auctioned by the house RM Sotheby’s.
According to the auction house, the owner who puts this lot up for sale began his collection 25 years ago, acquiring a Ferrari F40 from a person who had been its first owner. Over time, he acquired more and more vehicles until he formed a collection, which within it has small sub-collections.
An example of this is what happens precisely with Ferrari, with a series that includes the 288 GTO, the F40, F50, Enzo and finally LaFerrari, being possibly the most sought after quintet in the automotive world and as if that were not enough, all in Rosso Corsa color. In contrast, there is also a trio of Ferrari V12-powered convertibles in striking Giallo yellow, these are the 550 Barchetta, Superamerica and 599 SA Aperta.
Still in Italy, a couple of iconic Lamborghinis are also included, such as a Miura and a Countach LP 5000 S. On the other hand, the owner behind the remarkable collection is also a huge Bugatti fan and is saying goodbye to a EB 110 GT bluea EB 110 Super Sport white and a Chiron Super Sport 300+ just delivered.
Moving to English territory we have two Jaguar. The first is a XJR-15 exceptional, one of only 53 examples in existence, and the first production car to use a carbon fiber monocoque. Also presented is a XJ220S bright orange and is the only example produced in this colour, showing only 3,000 miles on the odometer.
Completing the collection we have a trio of Group B rally cars completely emblematic: a Lancia 037, an Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 and a Lancia Delta S4. This Delta S4 for sale is particularly desirable and is believed to be the most valuable in existence. It could be sold individually for up to USD 2.52 million.
