This increase is mainly due to both the improvement in the logistics chain as well as vehicle production. In the same way, in the last month of March, a bag of accumulated orders has been released that have increased the volume of sales, mainly for the channel of renters and companies. Anyway, although there is an improvement in the month of March the market continues to be 19% lower than the pre-pandemic figures, in 2019.
Regarding registrations by channels, all of them have registered positive numbers compared to the month of March 2022. Sales to individuals stood at 36,061 units, that is, 36% more, while the market has been the one that has registered the best data with growth of 44.8% and 38,656 units. Finally, sales to rent-a-car totaled 24,807 units, 269.4% more.

Gasoline is again the most demanded fuel. Diesel is still in free fall.
As far as fuels are concerned, alternative energies (electrified, hybrid and gas) have yielded the first position after four months at the top. In this third month of 2023, they have accounted for a share of 36.82%, slightly less than one point behind gasoline engines, which have accounted for 39.34% of the total. Diesel is still far off the hook, registering 23.83% of the total. In this sense, the hybrids, whether light or self-recharging, are still the ones that pull the cart since they agglutinated a share of 25.11% in March with 29,199 units and represent 26.08% of the entire market to add 73,143 units.
Regarding the models with plug, that is, electric and plug-in hybrids, together only account for 10% of the entire market, well below the European average. As an outstanding point, it must be said that the sales of both segments have been equalized, which says a lot in favor of the electric ones. In this sense, in March 5,684 units were sold (63.1% more than in 2022) while the phev registered 6,006 units (78% more). In total, both categories already accumulate 13,878 and 14,953 units, which although it represents an improvement of 63 and 41.5%, respectively, its market share is only 4.95 and 5.33% far from other European markets such as French, Portuguese or German where they have a share of 21.6, 21.7 and 31.4%, respectively.

The SEAT Arona regains first place in the general classification.
By brands Toyota continues without giving its arm to twist and in this 2023 there is no other brand that has sold more than it. In total, it accumulates 20,749 units thanks to the 8,083 registered in March. The second is Peugeot with 18,040 units and the podium is closed by SEAT with 17,737 units, while in the month both brands have reversed their positions. By segments, nothing new since Spain continues to be a private preserve of SUVs since these three acronyms have represented almost 60% of the total registrations, highlighting the importance of both the compact SUVs, with a 32.2% share and 31,998 units registered in March, like that of the urban SUVs, with 22.2% and 22,107 sales. The podium was closed by the utilities with a 16.2% weight and 16,170 registrations. At the end of this first quarter, that is, in the accumulated, there are also the segments that occupy the podium with 76,152 units and a share of 32.1%, 51,250 registrations and 21.6% or 39,878 sales and 16.8%, respectively .
Such is its importance that five of the of the ten best-selling models of the year correspond to said categories. Focusing on them, it can be seen that the up to now leader, the Dacia Sandero, has only registered 1,973 units in March (7th), which has caused lose the overall lead to the detriment of the SEAT Arona Well, thanks to the 3,324 units sold in March, it is already the best-selling car in Spain with 7,504 units, 1,000 more than the Franco-Romanian model. The overall podium is closed by the Toyota C-HR with 6,459 units, which also makes it the most popular hybrid in Spain.

Speaking of electrified models, the Tesla Model Y seems to have taken a strong hold in the electrical category and in March it registered 794 sales, which helps it to accumulate a total of no less than 1,618 units, distancing itself far from the second classified, the Fiat 500e with 763 units and the Dacia Spring, with 617 units. Something similar happens with The phev where the Ford Kuga continues without releasing the first place neither of the month, when selling 486 units, nor of the year where it already adds 1,324 units. They are followed by the Lynk & Co 01 (958) and the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV (625). Regarding hybrids, Toyota’s dominance is overwhelming because, in addition to the C-HR, it has the Corolla in second place, with 4,510 units. However, Nissan begins to appear thanks to its Qashqai, already positioning itself as the third best seller with 4,139 units. As a note, in March sold 7 hydrogen-powered models achieving that throughout the year 8 units have already been sold.
