The Lotus and Alpine electric sports car seems to die before it is born

It seems that it is Alpine that is interested in developing models with its own technology, taken directly from Renault. This is something that arises from his Renaulution strategy, although it seems not to be definitive. The relationship between the two is solid, in fact, Renault and Geely (Lotus parent) already have agreements on combustion engines. So the sports car could be canceled, but not other future crossover-bodied models. After all, Alpine still needs premium electric platforms to make bigger SUVs.

Geely seems its most natural partner to have that platform, which would be none other than the Lotus Eletre. A lot of potential, taking into account that this model announced more than 600 CV of power and 600 kilometers of autonomy. In any case, both brands continue committed to their plans. Next up for Lotus is a Type 135 sports car that will go on without any help from the French. Alpine, meanwhile, will have a production version of the A290 Beta by 2024, plus an X-Over GT by 2025 likely to use the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance CMF-EV platform.
