In Spain, we are lucky to have a rich automobile and motorcycle tradition, numerous drivers have left an indelible mark on this sport. From motocross to rally, through speed tracks and touring car circuits, although in this article we focus on automotive shooting, It is impossible not to mention Laia Sanz, Mónica Plaza or Ana Carrascothat although their disciplines are focused on two wheels, be it Dakar, Motocross or speed.
In summary and before we begin, with this article we celebrate the talent and dedication of female motor racing and competition drivers in Spain and how they are inspiring the new generations by challenging the limits in a world historically dominated by men.
Cristina Gutierrez – Dakar
Born in Burgos, she is the first Spanish driver to finish the Dakar Rally and the second to win a stage of the same event. She is the six-time female CERTT champion and runner-up of the same in 2015 in the absolute category.
In 2021 she became the first woman to win an FIA Cross-Country World Championship (T3 Category) and in 2022 she finished 3rd in her category on the Dakar. Marta Garcia – Single-seater
Like every F1 driver, Marta’s adventures begin in karting, winning events such as the CIK-FIA Karting Academy in 2015 and the Trofeo delle Industrie also in 2015. Born in Dénia in 2000, she has accumulated experience in Formula 4 and the W series that serves as a catapult for the F1 Academy as the starting driver for the Prema Racing team.
In this journey together with Prema Racing, he has accumulated 15 races with 8 podiums, 4 wins, 4 pole positions and 3 fastest laps, with 2 races to go to finish the 2023 season he is first in the standings with 190 points.
Monica and Marta Plaza – Rally
Sisters, Driver (Mónica) and co-driver (Marta) and winners of the Cuenca Rally in their first experience together. Monica has participated 4 times in the Dakar and is also a film specialist, obviously with vehicles.
Marta in her first steps co-driving her sister is already aiming for the Dakar and due to desire and talent it will not be a major problem. Both have a bright future ahead of us, support and luck on our part in each Rally Raid.
Ángela Vilariño Facal – Rally
A long career since 2003. Ángela is still active, delighting us in tests such as the climb to Puig Major. Among her palmares we highlight: Spanish Women’s Mountain Champion in 2016, Spanish Women’s Rally Champion in 2015, Spanish Mountain Champion in 2014 and 2013 (Absolute), 3rd place in the European Resistance Challenge in 2009, Women’s Cup Champion of the European Mountain Championship in 2006.
Emma Falcón and Luzmi Santana – Rally
Emma Falcón is the 2018 ERC European Champion, a Citroen driver, has been competing for more than a decade and is now part of the Sports&You firm. With her beginnings in karting and in the tests of the Canary Islands in 2013 she suffered an injury that could withdraw her from the competition.

Alba Cano – Resistance
