Mercedes, Toyota and BMW are the most stolen car brands and Seat Ibiza, Seat León and Volkswagen Golf, the most stolen models.
Having our car stolen continues to be one of the concerns of drivers. And it is that, according to the latest Crime Balance, which has just been published by the Ministry of the Interior with data for the first nine months of 2022, car theft has increased in Spain.
In fact, in our country around 100 vehicles are stolen per day, which gives an extrapolated annual figure of more than 36,600 stolen cars. The number of stolen cars detailed between January and September 2022 amounts to 22,913 vehicles.

Regarding the most stolen brands and models in our country, the highest percentage falls on cars of the brand Mercedes-Benz, with 14.7 percent, nearly tied with Toyota vehicles. Complete the podium BMW (with 14.4 percent), Audi (10.4 percent), Ford (7.8 percent) and Volkswagen (6.8 percent).
As for models, the most stolen are popular models that in recent years have been among the best sellers in Spain, as is the case of the Seat Ibiza, the Seat León and the Volkswagen Golf. The reason must be found in that their popularity makes them very attractive to lovers of foreign things, since they have a much larger second-hand parts market than other cars.

The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) points out that The first thing to do in the event of a car theft is to report it..
