The Kia firm starts this year strong in Mexico, announcing the launch of a new SUV, as well as the plans for this 2023.
What’s happening?
The Korean firm reveals that the Kia Sportage 2023 arrives in Mexico in April of this year for sale to the public, but will start an online pre-sale next March. The prices were not revealed, but it is known that three versions will be marketed: EX, EX Pack and SXL.
The fifth generation of Sportage worldwide, third in Mexico, it is now larger than its predecessor by 17 cm longerwhich translates into greater comfort and interior space.
At the design level, this Sportage boasts the new Opposites United design philosophy, which is reflected from the front, with the complexity of its fascia combined with the slim silhouette of the LED lighting, which give it an elegant and aggressive touch.

Inside to highlight, is the double curved screen, which converges the digital dashboard as the infotainment system.
The motorization is another of the elements to highlight, since it will be offered with two options. A block of 2.0 L of 153 Hp with automatic box of six speeds; and another 2.5 L engine with 187, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Regarding safety, it comes equipped with the Drive WiSE intelligent driving assistance system. More details will be revealed when it goes on sale.

Kia: What it achieved in 2022 and its plans for 2023
In addition to the unveiling of the new KIA Sportage, the Korean manufacturer revealed important data achieved in 2022 as well as its goal for 2023.
In 2022, Kia presented a positive closing, placing itself in fourth position in the national ranking by placing 89,140 units, which represents a growth of 8.7% compared to the previous year, thus registering an unprecedented participation of 8.2%.
In addition, for the first time in the company’s history in the country, the Kia Rio was positioned as the number one model in sales with 50,958 units, 45% more than in 2021. Meanwhile, Kia Seltos closed the year in first position in the SUV B segment with 17,137 units sold, an increase of 22%.
Among the outstanding results, there is also the good reception that Niro experienced, it had a sales growth of 60% since the arrival of the second generation.

As a result of the efforts of Kia and its dealer network, the brand was ranked third in the JD Power Customer Satisfaction Index.
Whereas, when it comes to the performance of Kia Finance, The automaker’s credit arm closed in second place in market share, and fourth in volume of contracts placed with a total of 55,131.
In terms of production, Kia México increased 20.8% with 265,000 units assembled at the Pesquería Plant, Nuevo León, this result was close to the figures reported before 2020. Regarding the export of units, the brand ended 2022 with 200,009 units, 18.8% more than in 2021.
Regarding sales projection, Kia set a goal of placing 96 thousand units in Mexico, which would correspond to an annual growth of 8% compared to 2022.
