The electrification is being a fundamental pillar inside Stellantis. More and more hybrids and electrics are coming out in their different brands, although there are also concessions to combustion that will continue with us during this decade. To make its implementation in cars feasible, systems such as microhybridization are used to reduce consumption and emissions, while at the same time obtaining the DGT ECO label. It is the resource used by the Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid 48V 136 ë-DCS6the new version of the model, which could be the most interesting.
It would be placed in an intermediate position within the range, above the 130 CV PureTech without electrification and the 180 CV Hybrid (Full Hybrid). This version also uses the gasoline engine 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder, although a new variant in which 40% of the components are new. With a few tweaks you get a slightly improved power that stays in 136 hp and 230 Nm of torque. Although what is really interesting is the electrical component that is added to this set.
because it has a small electric motor synchronous permanent magnets that develops 28 CV and that serves as a support for the gasoline block and that also acts as a generator to recharge the battery. A 48V lithium-ion battery to power the system, which also has a belt starter and the corresponding 12V voltage converter for the rest of the car’s equipment. In addition, it integrates new gearboxë-DCS6which is a fully electrified six-speed dual-clutch automatic optimized to work with this system.
The result is that the Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid 48V 136 ë-DCS6 considerably reduces its consumption and its emissions. It is capable of doing up to 50% of the journeys in electric mode and that translates into 1 litre/100 km less fuel than the PureTech 130 EAT8. On urban journeys you can achieve savings of up to 30%. And in emissions the result is 15% less than homologate 129 g/km of CO2. All this with a smooth and usable response in daily use.
to that you have to add the rest of benefits which already has the C5 Aircross by default. It is one of the most comfortable in the segment thanks to that suspension that we have talked about so much or the Citroën Advanced Comfort seats. In addition, its digital instrumentation is adapted to this microhybrid variant and now shows other additional information such as power flow, battery charge level, riding mode, or percentage of distance traveled in electric mode (shown by a blue tachometer).
