In the last hours, the partnership between Ford and Changan confirmed the production of the new generation of the Edge. The confirmation of the new Edge does not take us by surprise, since months ago there were rumors about its production after revealing a series of leaked images from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, which were accompanied by spy photos of a Ford model being tested in Europe. Along with the ad, Ford-Changan unveiled a series of sketches of the vehicle, which only confirmed that it is the same vehicle leaked months ago.
New Ford Edge: Key Features
Called “New Edge L” (capacity for seven passengers), the next generation of the Edge is rumored to share a platform with the new Ford Territory, recently arrived in Mexico. However, this is difficult, considering that Territory is a jointly manufactured product of JMC. Perhaps the platform of the new Edge is not developed by Changan, but by Ford, which would allow it to share elements together, regardless of the alliance formed.
What will be shared is the new exterior design language.

Beyond the outward appearance, Ford did not release images of the interior. In any case, it is expected that it will have equipment similar to that of the new Territoryincluding two screens (one for the instrument panel, one for the multimedia system), panoramic roof, wireless charger and transmission selector with a dial.
For now, details regarding the mechanics of the new Edge are unknown, although there are rumors that suggest that it would be launched with a 2.0 Turbo engine with about 250 Hp. In addition, it is not ruled out that it has a hybrid variant.
As for the release date, there is no information. What is known is that, initially, the new Ford Edge will only be sold in the Chinese market. We will have to wait for more news about it.
