Honda Performance Development presented a 48-minute documentary showing the development of the racing prototype Acura ARX-06 debuting this weekend at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Meyer Shank Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport will campaign the new car in the GTP class of the 2023 season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
This past Sunday, January 22, Tom Blomqvist qualified on the GTP class pole position in the Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-06 for the endurance racing classic.

The video features Acura designers, Honda Performance Development engineers, ORECA chassis specialists, and team owners Wayne Taylor and Michael Shank, working together from inception to the launch of the Acura ARX-06 at Daytona International Speedway.
The documentary is now available on the HPD (Honda Performance Development) YouTube channel.
The documentary highlights the initial concepts and goals of the ARX-06, as well as its design, development and testing.. “The Origin Story” shows the ARX-06 in the Acura line of sports cars that harks back to the original 2007 Acura, the ARX-01. The design, aerodynamics, power, challenges and triumphs are highlighted in the film through the eyes of the men and women responsible for creating the Acura ARX-06.
Acura’s new concept car follows in the footsteps of the ARX-05, which has won the last two Daytona 24 Hours races and three of the last four manufacturer titles in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The ARX-06 debuts with the creation of the new GTP class at IMSA, which is the quintessential North American sports car racing championship.
